Hooded Bath Towel Blanket

Materials:
Sugar and Cream yarn by Lily, or any worsted weight cotton-approx. ¾ of a pound cone
US size 9 needles (or even a little larger, for a looser softer fabric would be good to compensate for the shrinkage when washed)

Gauge:
About 4sts = 1" or so, not very important

Finished Size (after washing with shrinkage):
Length- about 33" from top of folded-down hood to bottom of diamond.  Width- about 35" from side corner to side corner at widest in center. (I'm not sure of the dimensions before washing, since I forgot to measure before giving these away, sorry!)

Pattern:
Cast on 4 sts
Row 1-3:  Knit
Row 4:  K1, Inc, Inc, K1 (6 sts)
Row 5:  Slip 1, K3, yo, K to end
Repeat Row 5 until you have 130 sts on the needle, or until desired width.
Do next two rows as Slip 1, knit to end (no increases)

Now begin decrease rows:
Slip 1, K2, ssk, yo, ssk, K to end
Repeat last row until 10 sts left
Do next two rows as Slip 1, K to end
Then begin the increase rows again (as row 5): Slip 1, K3, yo, K to end
Repeat until 60 sts on needle, or until desired width and depth of hood
Do two more rows of Slip 1, K to end
Bind off, relatively loosely
Fold down the top and sew the diagonal sides of the hood to the body.

Keep in mind that cotton does shrink a bit when washed, so don't worry about making it too large, or knitting it a bit loose.  If it's knit too tightly it will wash up to be a bit stiff after shrinking.
