Last Minute Wreath Ornament
With 3 or 4 stitch cord (cast on 3 or 4 on dpn, knit, *slide
to other end of dpn, knit, repeat from * (do not turn! If you do, forget
it and keep going).
When your cord is about a foot long or a little more than twice the diameter
you want (To check while it is on the needle fold cast on back to
the needle with stitches on it. Make a circle and look and see if it seems round
enough) cast off leaving a couple inches of yarn end.
Fold the cord in half. Start to twist (put your finger in the loop end - not
the two ends end - and twirl). Make it into a circle. Sew yarn end
in to join circle (sew two ends to middle of cord while circle stays twisted.
I cast off through the layers on one instead of making the
seam). Cover the join with a bow make from more icord, or leftover curling ribbon.
If you want a decorated wreath, string a handful of beads on the yarn before
you start. Between knit stitches just pull up a bead against the
cord. Do it every couple of rows or as heavily beaded as you like.
It actually took me longer to type this than to make one of these guys. It's
great for those few yard oddballs of just about anything.
