I made this for my Mother-in-law’s fiftieth birthday. It was well received : )
Materials:
Approximately 450 yards sport weight yarn,
2 markers,
size 4.00mm needles,
4.00mm crochet hook.
I used Skacel’s Cashmere Diamant: 55% superwash wool, 35% acrylic,
10% cashmere
Gauge:
Approximately 4.5 stitches per inch. Gauge is not crucial, but
you do want a somewhat loose fabric.
Finished Size:
About 11” wide and 48” long, after blocking. Exact size is also
not crucial.

Row 11: K5, YO, K3tog, YO, K2tog
Repeat Rows 1-12 for pattern.
Edging is Knit along with the scarf; the right edge and left edge are mirrored images.
Using your favorite provisional cast on, cast on 42 stitches.
Set up Row: Knit 9, place marker, Knit to last 9 stitches, place
marker, Knit to end.
Begin Patterning with Row 1 of Edging Pattern.
Right Edge is worked on the stitches before the first marker; stitches
between markers are worked in garter; Left edge is worked on the stitches
after the second marker.
Work until approximately 46 inches from beginning, ending with Row 12
of the edge pattern.
Do Not Bind Off.
Pick up stitches from your provisional cast on; remove waste yarn.
Put a half twist in the scarf (Starting Left Edge meets Ending Right Edge) and graft the 2 ends.
Crochet edging (this helps to keep the diamonds well defined)
Attach yarn in the YO at the tip of any diamond point.
Chain 1, work 2 single crochets (sc) in the same YO.
Work 2 sc in each of the next 2 YO’s; skip the YO at the bottom of
the “V”
(it's very tempting to put 2 sc there, but Don't Do It)
Work 2 sc in each of the next 2 YO’s
Work 3 sc in the YO in the tip of the diamond point
Continue around in this manner.
Join in first Ch1, finish off & cut yarn.
Weave in ends, wash & block.
