I have found myself totally satisfied making scarves out of all sorts of different yarns. Work is intense this time of year, and I am facing the desire to give handmade gifts from ultra-soft fibers. Maybe the mindlessness is just what I need right now ... the fibers and the needles are the only variable. I am aiming towards a 7" width.
I am in love with Farrow Rib. I don't remember where I saw it lately, but I dragged out my #8 birch needles and CASHMERINO (Debbie Bliss yarn) and cast on 34 sts. Heaven.
Then I worked a scarf up in a locally produced 100% merino on the same
34 sts. Nirvana. NOW I am playing with LUSH (Classic Elite's angora/wool
blend) and 40 sts on #7 bamboo needles
and I don't know if I can get any happier <g>
Here's Farrow Rib:
