Materials:
Aprroximately 30 oz. worsted weight yarn
Size "K" (American) crochet hook
Finished Size:
Approximately 40"X60"
Gauge:
One shell (or box st) = 1" - This is not all that critical, as you
just do box stitch til it's long enough
Pattern:
Ch 100, LOOSELY
Row 1: 3 dc in 4th ch from hook *skip 3 chains, in next ch make (sc, ch3, 3 dc) all in same st. Rep from * across, ending 1 dc in last ch. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: 3 dc in last dc of previous row, *work (1 sc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch 3 space. Rep from * across, ending with a dc in top of chain 3. Ch 3, turn
Repeat row 2 for pattern until 60 rows are completed, or desired length. DO NOT BREAK YARN. Continue working pattern down the side, across the bottom, and up last side. (Work the patterns in the ch 3 spaces on the sides, and matched with the patterns across the bottom edge. Work 3 dc in each corner) Break off yarn, and weave in any ends.
This pattern is very adaptable too - I have done it with Lion Brand Homespun and a size "N" hook - very nice! Also in baby yarn with a "G" hook. Just pick a yarn you like, a hook one to two sizes larger than called for with the yarn, make a chain as wide as you like, and then start with row 1 of box stitch. Work row 2 til it's long enough, and finish as above - voila!
