Hooded Baby Sweater

I made the blue hooded baby sweater from you can see it at www.picturetrail.com/momof2boys in the knitting album.

Description and yarn size

Sizes: With a lightwht worsted, this makes a size 9mos to one year. The baby wearing it is six months old, about 17 lb..
Material: Needles: # , # 5.5mm Size: 21 Gauge: 4.00 sts = 1" 5.00 rws = 1"

Gauge:
Pattern Stitch: Knit first six rows of body pieces in garter stitch.( Ribbing may be substituted if you prefer.) Thereafter, knit in stockinette
stitch, except knit every 7th row (the wrong side) instead of purling it. The sleeves may be knit from the wrist up, in which case knit the
first five rows in garter,and sew the sleeves on. I prefer to pick up at the top and knit down for sleeves.

Back:cast on 44 work six rows garter stitch

Inc Row:[Work 8, inc 1 in next st]4x work 8.
work in pat st until piece meas 7"[row 28]. Place underarm markers.

Continue in pat st until piece meas 12"[row 52].
Bind off 48 sts across back.

Front:make two, [reversing shaping]
cast on 22 sts. Work six rows in garter stitch
[Work 7 inc 1 in next st, work 6, inc 1 in next st] 1 x. work 7.
Work as for back, including all shaping, and, at the same time when piece meas 9.5"[row 40]

Begin Neck Shaping:At neck edge, bind off 6 sts then at neck edge, dec 1 st every other row 3x.
Continue in pat st until piece meas 12"[row 52].
Bind off 15 sts across shoulder.

Sleeves:cast on 24 sts.Work in garter stitch 6 rows, ending ready to begin a right side.
Work 8 [inc 1 in next st, work 7] 2x.

Sleeve Increases:work in pat st.
Inc 1 st on each side every 3 rws 4x.
Then every 4 rws 3x.
Continue in pat st until piece meas 7"[row 28].
Bind off 40 sts.


Finishing:Seam shoulders.
Sew in sleeves.( or work from top down)
Seam sleeves.
Seam sides.
Hood
Using larger needle and RS facing,pick up 18 right front neck sts, pick up 1/2 (9) back neck sts, place marker, pick up remaining 9 back sts, pick up18 left front neck sts. [54 sts]. Turn.
Work one WS row.

On next RS row, establish rib for self finish over the first 4 sts, work to last 4 sts, establish rib for self finish to end.
Work even for 2.5" .

Inc 1 on each side of center back marker, every 7 rws, 5x.
Bind off when piece measures 9.5" .
Seam top.
Button Band: After sewing sweater body, crochet with a c hook up one side, around the hood, and back down. I did 6 rows of single crochet.
Don't forget to make button holes.
