Needle Holder

I bought two plaid large rectangle shaped place mats. At the time I picked by colors but I got mat that looks like it was woven which helped give me a line to follow when I sewed so I did not measure or mark any directions.

I counted the stripes to make sure I would have more than 12 so I could give each needle size it's own slot. I did end up with the big size 35 and 17 and 15 in a big slot I left at the bottom.

I used some ribbon and made loops at the top to hang. I just put the ribbon end between the placemats and looped back and sewed the two placemats together with the ribbon ends sewn over.

I then just made lines of stitches using the pattern of the design. I took a sharpie marker and wrote the needle size on the right
side of the holder. I have been inspired now and may make a napkin size needle holder to hold my double points. I would need much narrower fabric and it would need to be thicker or I could sew pockets on another placemat or maybe even elastic.
This cost less than $6.00 to make and less than an hour of time.
