Tea Cosy

My DD and DH gave me a cute "tea for one" cup and pot for my b-day. It is bright yellow with blue flowers. It inspired me to knit a tea cosy since I have had some yellow lopi lying around for years since my DD was three and wanted felted ballet slippers in yellow (never did knit those!).

I just made a K1P1 ribbing in the round (on four needles) big enough to fit around the base of the teapot and slip easily over the wider handle and spout, then knit it around like a hat until the widest point of the teapot.

At that point I began decreasing at the beginning and end of each needle with a SSK on one end and a K2tog on the other until it came to a point at the top. Then I continued knitting the last 4 stitches as I-cord long enough to make a loop. So it comes out like a little mitered hat with a loop on top. Then crocheted somewhat garish blue flowers to adorn the thing with so it would match the teapot. Looks cute, and the Lopi is a great insulater. Keeps the tea very warm through an evening study session. Since I use Celestial Seasonings tea bags, I just remove them after I steep the tea--no bitterness.
