Sizes: XS (25" body), S (32"), M (39"), L (46")
Needles: Size 10.5 circular
Yarn: heavy worsted (as in pound put-ups)

Drop St Garter Pat

Row 1-2 Knit.
3 *K1, wrapping yarn 3 times around needle; rep from *.
4 *K1, dropping 2 extra wraps; rep from *.

Body
Cast on 74 (90, 110, 130) sts, using long-tailed cast-on. Work rows 1-4 of Drop St Garter Pat 15 times, then work row 1 once more. Piece measures approx 15-1/2” from beg.

Divide for fronts and back
Next row (WS) K15 (19, 23, 28) (left front), put on holder, bind off 7 (8,9, 10) sts (underarm), k 30 (36, 46, 54) sts (for back), put on holder,
bind off 7 (8, 9, 10) sts (underarm), k to end (right front).

Right Front
Next row (WS) Work rows 3-4 of pat. K 15 ridges garter stitch. Armhole measures approx 5½”.

Shape neck
Cont in garter st for 9 ridges. AT SAME TIME, dec 1 st at neck edge every 3 rows–9 (13, 17, 22) sts. K 2 rows.
Armhole measures approx 9”. Place sts on hold.

Left Front
With RS facing, join yarn at underarm edge of left front sts and work pat rows 3 and 4.
K 15 ridges garter stitch. Armhole measures approx 5½”. Shape neck as for right front.

Back
With RS facing, join yarn at underarm edge and work pat rows 3 and 4, then work in garter st until armhole measures same length as fronts to shoulder
(24 ridges). Place sts on hold.

Finishing
Join 9 (13, 17, 22) shoulder sts each side, using 3-needle bind-off. Sew 3 buttons or laces on each side of vest front, beg at neck and placing other 2
approx 3” apart below first, skipping drop stitch rows.

Button loops MAKE 3:With crochet hook, ch 10, leaving a 3” tail. Join with sl st to first st to form a loop. Cut yarn, leaving another 3” tail. Use tails to attach loops to
WS of left front, under each button.
