Description and yarn size

Material:

Cotton yarn, DK weight preferably
A few yards in contrasting color
Optional: Metallic thread to knit along with main
color for glitter
4.0 mm needles (US size 6)
Crochet hook, size D or similar
Scent of some type, such as that sold as room
perfume

notes:This is simply the old dishcloth pattern but with a different twist. I have made several dozen of these as small gifts or to attach to another package.

Directions: Slip the first st of each row throughout.

Cast on 3 sts. Knit one row.
Row 2: Sl 1, knit in front and back of next two sts (5 sts)
Row 3: Sl 1, k1, yo, knit across. Repeat row 3 until 28 sts on needle.
Knit one row even.
Next row: Sl 1, ssk, yo, ssk, knit across.
Repeat next row until 3 sts on needle. Bind off.

Crochet a chain that is long enough to go through loops in edging and tie with a loose knot, if recipient wants to use square as a mug rug.

Weave the chain through the holes in the edge and draw it up slightly. Stuff the square with scented cotton, and then draw the chain more and tie with
a bow to make a little bag. Attach the following tag:

Here's a sachet to scent a drawer (Or: Here's Santa's bag to scent a drawer)
Or perhaps to hang on a tree.
Or open the tie if a coaster you'd like
For your mug of coffee or tea.
Happy Holidays, Your Name

Note: For the tag I copied free snowman clip art from the web and sprinkled clip art snow flakes among the words.
