using the loop cast on method, cast on 91 stitches. PM and join, being
careful not to twist stitches. work in plain stockinette stitch for 6
1/2
inches (i had to do about 52 rows).
next row, Knit 11, k 2 tog around
Knit one plain row
next row: Knit 10, k2 tog around
Knit one plain row .......
etc., until you are left with 49 stitches. at this point, decrease every
row (do not do the plain knit row in between). change to your dpns or
the
two-circ method (my favorite) when stitches become too stretched around
the 16 inch circular needle.
when you are left with the last 7 remaining stitches, cut yarn, pull thread
through and fasten. sew in top end.
now comes the cool part pick up 91 stitches around the cast on
edge. its very easy if you have used a loop cast on. now, knit the same
hat again!!!
be sure to sew in all your loose ends before you finish the final decreases, because
you will be closing off the tube. after you pull the thread throughon
the second piece, carefully sew in that last loose end so that it isinside
the piece although you are working from the outside (the right side).
you are now done. as EZ says, punch one hat inside the other, or alternatively,
the other inside the one. and there you have it, a double layered hat!
she suggests making each side in a different color, so its reversible.
i have tried this as well, and i like it. But i seem to have requests
only for black and black!!!
