Circular Needle Hanger

Circular hanger how-to:
I recently made one....with pretty yellow cotton duck. The dimensions are 8.5" wide by 30" long. Mine is slightly too wide--you want 16" circs to hang nicely and not just point out. It doesn't matter if your 29" circs hang down.

Sew two long (vertical) rectangles of fabric, finished at the right and left edges. Sew them together top and bottom. For the slide-through pockets, I measure about 2" for each needle size. Sew channels straight across (horizontally). Those become the open ended pockets.

When creating the top seam attach two sets of ribbons, right and left, approximately 10" each (that's 4 10-inch pieces of ribbon). Use the ribbon to tie the circular holder onto a hangar. I used a pretty floral padded hanger. (I used another piece of ribbon to hang a needle gauge--run the ribbon through a needle size you are least likely to use, tie a knot, and hang the gauge over the hook of the hanger.)

I used a fabric marker (like a permanent sharpie) purchased at a crafts store, to neatly mark the sizes on the pockets. I put the smallest needle sizes at the top and the 13s (?) at the bottom. I think I left one section unmarked for anything that might come up.

Having the needle gauge attached makes it easy to verify the needle sizes or to put away (file, organize) the needles into the right slot.

Supplies:

Cotton duck sufficient for two 9 x 32" panels (before seams)
Fabric ribbon, 3 yards
Fabric marker, fine point
