Frock Coat

Material: #15US (I used worsted weight acrylic yarn)
Gauge: Gauge: 5sts, 6 rows per 2 inches

This is a revision of an earlier pattern. Please e-mail me at celestraof12worlds@yahoo.com and I'll be happy to answer any questions about the pattern.

Chest measurement 40" (To adjust add or subtract: 1 st on each front side and 3 in the back.)

CO 136 sts
Knit 5 rows of garter, Dec 1 at the beginning and end of the last row.

Change to stst with the following selvaged edge (to keep it from curling):
Sl1, k1, work to last 2, k2

All increases and decreases will be inside this border.

Dec 1 at the beginning and end of every 8th round (12x; 110 sts). Purl 1 row to end on a knit row.

Armholes: Sl1, k1, dec1, k23, BO4, k46, BO4, k23, dec1, k2

Begin the back: Purl 1 row, Dec at beginning and end of k row (3x; 40sts) Work even for 20 rows, BO 5 sts at the beginning of next 6 rows,
then BO remaining 10 sts

Front: (work both sides at same time, continue selvaged edge)

Purl 1 row, Dec at armholes in next knit row (3x; 24 sts). Beginning at the armhole BO dec 1 at neck edge every 4 rows (5x;
20 sts) for a total of 26 rows from first armhole BO. BO 5 sts at beginning of next 6 rows, then BO all remaining sts.

Sleeves: (make 2, obviously ;)
CO 24 sts. Work 5 rows in garter, then change to stst. Inc at the beginning and end of every 4th row (13x; 50 sts). BO2 at the beginning
of next 2 rows (46 sts). Dec 1 at beginning and end of every knit row (19x; 8sts). BO 2 sts at the beginning of next 3 rows, then BO all remaining sts.

Sew seams. You can use a button, broach or, as I did, a crocheted chain to tie the front, in line with the first armhole BO.

The pattern is of my own design, it's not for sale, but it's totally free for distribution. And if you have any questions at all, please don't think twice about asking me!
