Cast on 64 sts onto about a size 8, 16" circular needle. Join.
Next round: Purl, placing a marker at the joining st.
Next round: Knit
Repeat these two rounds, 2X more = 3 garter ridges made.
Now, begin knitting all stitches, (stockinette st). Continue knitting
around until piece measures 5" from start.
Begin crown shaping:
rnd 1: *K6, K2tog*, repeat to marker
rnd 2: K all sts
rnd 3: *K5, K2tog*, repeat to marker
rnd 4: K all sts
rnd 5: *K4, K2tog*, repeat to marker
rnd 6: K all sts
rnd 7: *K3, K2tog*, repeat to marker
rnd 8: K all sts
rnd 9: *K2, K2tog*, repeat to marker
rnd 10: K all sts
rnd 11: *K1, K2tog*, repeat to marker
rnd 12: K all sts
To finish: remove marker. K2tog around until only 6 sts remain. Break
off a length of yarn and thread it through a yarn needle. Draw the needle
through the last 6 sts and pull up tight. Secure yarn tail and weave in
beginning and ending piece of yarn.
I made three of these over the weekend. You can do one in about 3 hours.
