Alternate cuff: Work in reverse stockinette (purl every round) for 2"

Join Green and knit two rounds before starting Mosaic Pattern with Green and White. (You can cut the red, or twist it in as you go — yourchoice.)
The parts between the *s are repeated five times around the cuff -- itmight be helpful to place a marker every 12 stitches to help you keep
track.

Rounds 3 and 4: (GREEN) *K2, (sl 1, k1) three times, sl 1, k3*
Rounds 5 and 6: (WHITE) *K1, sl 1, k7, sl 1, k2*
Rounds 7 and 8: (GREEN) *Sl 1, k 3, sl 1, k1, sl 1, k3, sl 1, k1*
Rounds 9 and 10: (WHITE) *(K3, sl 1) twice, k4*

Rounds 17 and 18: (WHITE) *(K3, sl 1) twice, k4*
Rounds 19 and 20: (GREEN) *Sl 1, k3, sl 1, k1, sl 1, k3, sl 1, k1*
Rounds 21 and 22: (WHITE) *K1, sl 1, k7, sl 1, k2*
Rounds 23 and 24: (GREEN) *K2, (sl 1, k1) three times, sl 1, k3*

Cut the white. Knit two more rounds in Green after finishing row 24 of the mosaic pattern. Drop Green (do not cut), join Red and knit 4rounds.
Cut Red.

Knit with Green in stockinette for 4" or to preferred length. On thelast round, knit across needle 3, remove marker and knit the last
stitch, replace marker, and knit 3 more stitches from the next needle.

Rearrange stitches so that the last 30 stitches you knit are on needle3, with the marker in the middle. These will be your heel stitches.
Cut Green.

HEEL FLAP
Working only on the 30 heel stitches, join Red and knit back-and-forthas follows until the flap is square (approximately 30 rows):

Row 1: Slip 1 purlwise, purl across, turn.
Row 2: Slip 1 knitwise, knit across, turn.
End by working one more Row 1.

TURN HEEL
Row 1: Slip 1 knitwise, K 16, SSK, K1, turn (10 stitches remain unworked)
Row 2: Slip 1 pwise, P5, P2tog, P1, turn (10 stitches remain unworked)
Row 3: Slip 1 kwise, K6, SSK, K1, turn (8)
Row 4: Slip 1 pwise, P7, P2tog, P1, turn (8)
Row 5: Slip 1 kwise, K8, SSK, K1, turn (6)
Row 6: Slip 1 pwise, P9, P2tog, P1, turn (6)
Row 7: Slip 1 kwise, K10, SSK, K1, turn (4)
Row 8: Slip 1 pwise, P11, P2tog, P1, turn (4)
Row 9: Slip 1 kwise, K12, SSK, K1, turn (2)
Row 10: Slip 1 pwise, P13, P2tog, P1, turn (2)
Row 11: Slip 1 kwise, K14, SSK, K1, turn (0)
Row 12: Slip 1 pwise, P15, P2tog, P1, turn (0)
Next row: Slip 1 kwise, knit across needle. You should now have 18 stitches left on this needle.
Cut the red yarn.

PICK UP STITCHES FOR GUSSET:
With a crochet hook and dpn (or 2 dpns) and using the GREEN yarn, pickup one stitch in each edge stitch down the side of the heel flap — you
should have approximately half the number of stitches as rows in the flap — in this case, 15 stitches. Still using the green yarn, knit
across the instep needles, then pick up another 15 stitches along the remaining edge of the flap. Finally, knit across the last needle to
the row marker.

There should now be 78 stitches on four needles (18/15/30/15). You are ready to work in the round again, working the gusset stitches on the
two side needles.

WORK GUSSETS
Round 1:
Needle 1: Knit across from marker.
Needle 2: Knit to last three stitches, then k2tog, k1.
Needle 3: Knit across.
Needle 4: K1, SSK, knit to end of needle.
Needle 1: Knit across to marker.

Round 2: Knit all stitches

Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until you have 6 stitches each left on needles 2 and 4 — back to 60 stitches. Rearrange stitches (15/30/15), with
the marker at the end of needle 3. Continue knitting all rounds until foot is 8". Cut green yarn.

WORK TOE
With RED yarn, work rounds as follows:
Round 1:
Needle 1: Knit to last 3 stitches, K2 tog, K1
Needle 2: K1, SSK, knit to last 3 stitches, K2 tog, K1
Needle 3: K1, SSK, knit across.

Round 2: Knit all stitches.
Repeat these two rounds until you have 28 stitches left (7/14/7).

Knit the remaining 7 stitches from needle 1 onto needle 3, removing the marker.

CLOSE TOES (Two-needle bind-off)
Carefully turn stocking inside out. Holding the two needles parallel, knit one stitch from each needle together. Knit next stitch on each
needle, then pass the first stitch over. Repeat across. Cut yarn and weave in end.

MAKE TIE:
With crochet hook and two strands in the color(s) of your choice, attachyarn to the center back of the cuff and chain for about 3".
Join back at the beginning to make a loop and fasten off.
