Finished length: back of neck to bottom of trim: 16"
Abbreviations:
Pm - place marker
M1 - Make 1
K2tog - Knit two together
Inc 1 - Knit in front and back of stitch
Pattern: The poncho is worked in stockinette stitch. Knit 1 row, Purl
1 row when working back and forth. Knit every row when working in the
round.
The trim is done with one strand
of Woolease and 2 strand of Fun Fur in garter stitch. Knit every row.
Cast on 44 stitches. Do Not join.
Row 1: K1, pm, K1, pm, K8, pm, K1, pm, K22, pm K1, pm, K1
Row 2: Purl Back
Increase rows: Continue working back and forth M1 before and after each
marker on right side rows until there are 3 sts before the first marker.
Purl back
Next row: Inc 1, work remainder of row as an increase row ending with
Inc 1. Purl back
Continue with this sequence until there are 100 sts on the needle.
Work 1 increase row (MI before and after each marker) cast on 10 sts
and join.
M1 before and after each marker every other row X 14
Then M1 before and after each marker every 3 rows X4
Follow with M1 before and after each marker every 4 rows X4
Knit to first marker. Cast on 10
sts using 1 strand of Wool ease and 1 strand of fun fur.
Row 1: K9, K1 of the cast on sts tog with the next sts from the body
of the poncho
Row 2: K 10
Continue in this manner until all stitches have been worked. There will
be 10 st on needle. Turn garment inside out place needle through back
of first st and into cast on edge. Pull yarn through cast on edge and
the st. Repeat with the next st. Place sts worked back on left hand
needle and place 2nd st from end over 1st st. Move the remaining st
back onto right hand needle and work next st with as you did the first
st.
Repeat this bind off until all 10 sts have been worked.
Hood
With right side facing starting at center of the front pick up 35 sts
equally spaced around neck edge to center back, pm, pick up 35 sts ending
at center front. Do not join.
Row 1:Knit 1 st from marker, inc in next st, slm, inc in next st work
to end.
Row 2: Purl
Repeat these two rows 3 times.
Work in stockinette until piece measures 10 ½ in.
Place the sts prior to the marker on 1 needle and the remaining on a
different needle
With wrong sides facing each other kitchener top together.
With wrong side facing, using 1
strand of Woolease and 1 strand of fun fur pick up 3 sts out of every
4 around front of hood (the number of sts will vary from person to person
depending on how long they make the hood) Work in garter st. for 9 rows.
Bind off loosely. Fold over stockinette section of hood and tack in
place. There will be an opening so that a tie may be made from I cord
if desired. Ties are not recommended for safety reasons.
