| Materials: 1 Ball LB Homespun, scrap yarn for markers (two colors), #9 US 24" Circular needle. | Gauge: My gauge is 3 stitches per inch on a size 9 but gauge isn't really important. Just cast on enough stitches to get the dang thing over the kid's head! :) |
| Size(s): Kid sized. | |
| Notes from Author: I "invented" this simple poncho when I had some left-over Lion Brand Homespun. There is a loose-fitting mock turtle-neck in K1P1 ribbing and a garter stitch border on the end which hides the fact that I didn't know how much yarn I really had left on that ball. | |
Pattern:
Cast on 64 Stitches.
Join.
K1P1 for 32 stitches, place a string marker, K1P1 for the next 32 stitches and place another marker in a different color for the round end.
Continue working 2 to 2 1/2 inches of K1P1 Ribbing.
Now work the body:
Knit to marker.
Increase one stitch, slip marker.
Increase one stitch, knit to final marker.
Increase one stitch, slip marker.
Increase one stitch.
eep knitting in the body pattern until you are just about out of yarn. Then do a few rows of garter stitch all the way around with no increases to finish it off. I ended up with 5 rows of garter stitch (purl one full round, knit one full round).
Makes a nice charity project.
