ANOTHER LACY MOHAIR SCARF

This is instant gratification, and extremely easy. I'm a slow knitter and
I finish one in one good movie plus the 11 pm news. I graft the ends
together to make a mobius scarf because 1) it's fun and 2) I just can't
deal with fringes.

On #15 needles (I'd use bigger if I had them), cast on 19 stitches with scrap yarn,
for an invisible cast on. (you will unpick these stitches at the end as you graft
them with the last row that you knit.)
Row 1: YO, K2Tog, knit to end
Row 2: YO, K2Tog, knit to end
Row 3: YO, K3Tog, (K2Tog) twice, (YO, K1) six times,
                 (K2Tog) three times.
Row 4: YO, K2Tog, knit to end.

It's your basic Old Shale (also called Feather and Fan), plus a
loop at the edge. continue this for maybe 2 ounces worth
of yarn, until you get a length that you like. My
scarves are long enough to cover my ears and still hang
almost to the waist. However, they're only 6 or 7
inches wide, adequate but wider would be nicer.
When you've got the scarf as long as you like, turn one end of it
once and kitchner stitch the two ends, making a mobius
                scarf. voila.

I've also done this with fuzzy acrylic (the Lion Brand Jiffy) in
white, casting on 36 to do two old shales and omitting the edge loop. It
was positively lovely.

Email me if any of this gives you any problems, but I don't
anticipate that. It's truly easy and most of you are far more expert
knitters than I am.

non gift- It's wonderfully windy and stormy. The windchimes are going
non-stop. My husband has a late intermural ice hockey game. A perfect
knitting night.

happy holidays!
