BABY HEART BLANKIE
Size: Approximately 27 x 37 inches
Materials: 4 balls (100g each, 940 yards total) of worsted weight yarn. (I
have used Knitaly and Patons Canadiana)
Gauge: Approximately 4.2 stitches per inch over pattern.
Needles: Size 8 and 10 1/2 circular needles (at least 24-inches long; long
straight size 8 needles will also work).
General Instructions: Cast on enough stitches to have 5 stitches at either
side of blanket in garter stitch and enough pattern stitches to equal
approximately 27 inches in width total. The pattern repeat is a multiple of
12 stitches plus 9.
Specific Instructions: Using smaller needles, cast on 115 stitches. Work 9
rows (5 ridges) in garter stitch. The piece should measure about 1 1/4
inches. Change to larger needles and work as follows, keeping the first and
last 5 stitches in garter stitch:
Row 1: Right side. P4, K1 *P11, K1* to last 4 stitches. P4.
Row 2: K3, P3 *K9, P3* repeat to last 3 stitches. K3.
Row 3: P3, K3 *P9, K3* repeat to last 3 stitches. P3.
Row 4: K2, P5 *K7, P5* repeat to last 2 stitches. K2.Row 5: P1, K7 *P5, K7* repeat
to last 1 stitch. P1.
Row 6: P9 *K3, P9* repeat to end.
Row 7: K9 *P3, K9* repeat to end.
Row 8: Repeat Row 6.
Row 9: K4, P1 *K4, P3, K4, P1* repeat to last 4 stitches. K4.
Row 10: K1, P2, K3, P2 *K2, P1, K2, P2, K3, P2* repeat to last stitch. K1.
Row 11: P10 *K1, P11* repeat to last 11 stitches. K1, P10.
Row 12: Repeat Row 7.
Row 13: Repeat Row 6.
Row 14: Repeat Row 5.
Row 15: Repeat Row 4.
Row 16: Repeat Row 3.
Row 17: Repeat Row 2.
Row 18: Repeat Row 3.
Row 19: K3, P3 *K4, P1, K4, P3* repeat to last 3 stitches. K3.
Row 20: P2, K2, P1, K2 *P2, K3, P2, K2 P1 K2* repeat to last two stitches.
P2.
Repeat these 20 rows until blanket is the size you want. Change to smaller
needles and knit 9 rows (5 ridges) in garter stitch. Bind off.
