A BOW AND CUFFS FOR BUSINESS
Materials:
fine knitting cotton (the original used No.5 crochet cotton - I used the
equivalent of a 3 ply but I don't know the US equivalent of that)
knitting needles to suit cotton (you'll have to play around with this)
CUFF
cast on 23 stitches. slip the first stitch of every pattern row.
ROW 1: k4, YO, k2tog, k2, YO, k2tog, k7, k2tog, YO, k2, YO, k2
ROW 2 AND EVERY ALTERNATE ROW: YO, k2tog, k to end of row
ROW 3: k4, YO, k2tog, k3, YO, k2tog, k5, k2tog, YO, k2tog, YO, k2, YO, k2
ROW 5: k4, YO, k2tog, k1, YO, k2tog, k1, YO, k2tog, k3, k2tog, YO, k2tog,
YO, k2tog, YO, k2, YO, k2
ROW 7: k4, YO, k2tog, k2, YO, k2tog, k1, YO, k2tog, k1, k2tog, YO, k2tog,
YO, k2tog, YO, k4, YO, k2
ROW 9: k4, YO, k2tog, k1, YO, k2tog, YO, k2tog, k1, YO, k3tog, YO, k2tog,

Repeat these 20 rows 6 more times (7 points) for cuffs.
Cast off. Block & Starch. Attach to end of sleeves.
BOW
Cast on 29 stitches.
K10 (instead of k4) at beginning of pattern rows.
work 2 repeats of pattern.
Cast off.
Make another the same.
Sew straight edges together. Block & Starch.
Tie in knot & attach to collar, use as a brooch, sew on.......use your
imagination.....

I started to work out a one piece version of the bow, but haven't had time
to finish the details yet. if anyone is interested, once I have done so I
will post it to the List. but this is a really lovely, reasonably quickly
done little piece of work that looks terrific.
