MINI KNITTED BASKET
MINI KNITTED BASKET
With all the interest in miniature things, I must share with you a very small
and very quick knitted basket. I include a tiny knitted basket with every
knitted garment that I give as a gift or sell. I knit the basket from the
main yarn. I then make very tiny yarn butterflies of the contrasting yarn
and put them in the basket. I include an extra button if necessary and I
also cut out the washing instructions from the yarn label and include that as
well. to top it off I poke two coloured finishing nails in the yarn. The
nails look like knitting needles because they have a very small head and they
come in varying colours of tan or brown. Recipients have hung these little
baskets on the Christmas tree. So you could also hang them on the sweater
wreaths as well. They look really nice filled with raw fleece that has been
teased so it is fluffy and a contrasting colour of Knitting Nails. For a
decoration, knit a strand of gold or silver thread with the yarn.
Tiny Knitted Baskets
Cast on the number of stitches to make one inch. Knit in stockinette or seed
stitch or basket stitch for approximately 3 inches. This is a realy breeze
with a KM. Cast off leaving a long tail. Sew up both sides with mattress
stitch. With a crochet hook begin a chain on one side. Crochet the chain
about 2 inches, turn and do one row of single crochet. Attach the handle to
the basket and fill.
