MOHAIR SCARF PATTERN
First, Fruit-caps off to DOROTHEA NELSON for brainstorming this wonderful idea.
Since Barrie Trinkle wanted an alternative pattern and many of you expressed
the
desire to make some of these patterns up for gifts, I post this EARLY (only 38
more days, you know).
Secondly, I post this with these terms and conditions: this is now officially
governed under copyright laws with ME being the copyright holder. You may use
this personally and you may even share it amongst friends provided it is given
out FREE. In other words, you may NOT resell this for profit. You may NOT
include it as a kit to be sold. You may NOT manufacture more than 10 of these
for sale to others (just an arbitrary number, folks). The exception is for
charity and Michelle for she is in need at the moment. When sharing this
pattern, you MUST pass on this very statement as well. And credit the source!
MATERIALS: Mohair or brushed wool or acrylic or anything light, fluffy and
GAUGE OR TENSION: Loosen it up. Whatever size you might normally work the
yarn
up in, go 2 sizes higher or bigger. Example: Classic Elite's La Gran on 10's
or 10.5's, their Mini Mohair on 8's or 9's, I've not tried their lace wt.
mohair
yet.
SIZE: Up to you, though average is maybe 6 -9" wide and maybe 60" long.
CAST ON a multiple of 6 plus 3 more. Use fewer stitches like 21 for heavy wts,
27 for medium wts, 33 for thinner wts, and maybe as much as 39 or 45 for cobweb
stuff.
Row 1- k 2, * yo, k 2 tog, k 1, k 2 tog, yo, k 1; rep from * across, end k 1.
Rows 2, 4, 6, & 8- k across.
Row 3- * k 3, yo, sl next st as if to k, k 2 tog & pass slipped st over this,
yo; rep from * across, end k 3.
Row 5- k 2, *k 2 tog, yo, k 1, yo, k 2 tog, k 1: rep from * across, end k 1.
Row 7- k 1, k 2 tog,* yo, k 3, yo, sl next st as if to k, k 2 tog & pass
slipped st over this; rep from * across, end yo, k 3, yo, k 2 tog, k 1.
Rep rows 1 thru 8 for pattern. When you've had enough, bind off in
knit.
It's a good idea to steam block to open up the lace nicely.
Enjoy.
