Hat/Toque/Stocking Cap
Hat/Toque/Stocking Cap
2 50g balls Cynthia Helene Superwash Merino
Circular or dp needles (your choice) in sizes 4.5 mm and 5mm
Using smaller needle(s), cast on 100 sts. Work the following
pattern until the first 50g is used up:
Round 1: (k2, p2) around
Round 2: (p1, k2, p1) around
This is a mistake stitch rib. Change to larger needles and change
stitch pattern:
Round 1: kRound 2: (k3, p1) around.
Continue until this part is about 5 or 6 inches, ending with round 2.
Decrease as follows:
(k2 tog, k2) around.
Work about an inch straight, and then decrease again:
(ssk, k1) around.
Work another little bit, and decrease again (yarn should be almsot
finished by now):
k2 tog around.
Pass yarn tail through all stitches and fasten off.
This makes a cap with a nice deep turn-up so there's a double layer
over the ears.
