TURTLENECK DICKEY

Materials: 4 ozs worsted weight yarn. (If you are buying 3.5 oz skeins, you
will need a second skein.)
Size 5 & 7 needles US or size needed for gauge.

Gauge: 4-1/2 sts = 1" in garter stitch

Beginning at lower front with size 7 needles, cast on 22 sts. Knit one row.

*K1, M1, K to last st, M1, K1.
Knit one row
Repeat from * until you have 68 sts on needle.
Knit even until piece measures 8-1/2"

Divide for Neck:
Knit 27 sts, put remaining sts on holder.
Decrease one st at neck edge every other row until 18 sts remain. Bind off.

For other side, attach yarn at neck edge, leaving center 14 sts on holder.
Work one row even. Work decreases as for other side until 18 sts remain; DO
NOT BIND OFF. Cast on 50 sts at end of last row. Work even for 1".

*K1, K2tog, knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
Knit one row.
Repeat from * until 22 sts remain. Bind off.

Neck:
Change to size 5 needles (or 2 sizes smaller than body needle). With right
side facing, starting at left shoulder, pick up and knit 19 sts evenly along
side neck edge to front stitch holder, knit the 14 sts on holder, pick up and
knit 19 sts along side neck edge to back of neck; leaving last 18 sts free
for left shoulder, pick up and knit 32 sts along back of neck - 84 sts.

Work in k2, p2 ribbing for 6". Bind off very loosely in ribbing to allow for
head.Finishing: Sew left shoulder and neckband.
