On all subsequent rows, the first and last 6 stitches of every row are Knit, to give the blanket a garter stitch border. The balance of the directions refer only to the stitches within the markers.

Now, weave satin (or grosgrain) ribbons through the eyelets and tack them down at the ends. I use rainbow colored ribbons on a white background the most. Everyone loves it and it can be for either sex. Pastels on a white background also looks nice for a girl. White ribbons on pink or blue is pretty. There is no limit to the combinations.
