Work a 3 inch band of AB.

Work a 3 inch band of AA.

Work a 3 inch band of AB.

Switch over to BB and put a marker after 38th stitch.

Work in color banding as above, keeping the repeat going.

K2 SSK knit to within 4 stitches of marker K2 tog. K2 - slip marker- K2 SSK knit to within 4 stitches of marker K2 tog. K2.

Decrease in this manner every other row. When it becomes too small for the circs, change over to DPs. When you are down to 12 stitches, divide them onto two needles, (mindful of the pattern the decreases made) weave the stitches together with a kitchener stitch.

Make a giant tassel and attach firmly to the "toe" of the hat.

Fold ribbing up to make a double layer to keep the ears warm.

Put hat on so tassel hangs down one side. Enjoy. (This hat is fast - teens and young adults love it!)
