Materials:
75 g (approximately 3 oz) brushed mohair*
25 g (approximately 1 oz) loopy mohair boucle*
U.S. Size 10.5 double point needles or SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE!
*other yarn may be substituted as desired
NOTE: Depending upon the mohair used, these footlet/socks can be quite dazzling! Great for party socks or fancy lounging slippers. A nice, quick gift!
Other yarns may be used as long as the desired gauge is achieved. Possible substitutions: single stranded chunky weight yarn, double stranded DK or worsted weight yarns.
Gauge:
3 sts = 1" (2.54 cm) in stockinette stitch using double stranded brushed
mohair (or single strand if bulky weight)

Heel
Cast-on 12 sts.
Work in stockinette stitch until piece is 3" long; end on a purl row.
Turn Heel
Row 1: Knit 7, SSK, turn.
Row 2: Sl1, P2, P2tog, turn.
Row 3: Sl1, K2, SSK, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until 4 sts remain. Do not break yarn.
Pick up 10 sts on each side of heel in stockinette stitch, working 4 sts between picking up on each side [24sts total]. (ie: pick up 10 sts along one side, knit the 4 heel stitches, pick up 10sts along the other side)
Arrange stitches onto two needles having 14 sts each on them.
Work in stockinette stitch until footlet measures 6 inches from center
back; end on a knit row.
Place last 5 sts worked onto a separate needle (henceforth, ndl #2); cast-on 2 sts onto ndl #2 and work 6 sts from next ndl [13 sts on ndl #2]. Knit across remaining sts [ndl #3: 6 sts]. Work in rounds until footlet is approximately 2" (5.0 cm) shorter than desired length.
Toe
Round 1: ndl #1: K to within 3 sts of end, k2tog, k1. ndl #2: K1, SSK,
K to within 3 sts of end, K2tog, K1. ndl #3: K1, SSK, K to end.
Round 2: K even.
Work Rounds 1 and 2 until 10 sts remain. K across ndl #1. Graft toe sts together using Kitchener stitch.
Collar
[This section worked using one strand of mohair and one of loopy boucle
around the opening at the top of the footlet]
Starting on right side of heel, pick up 8 sts (ndl #1).
Pick up 12 sts down left side of opening (to center of instep; ndl
#2)
and pick up 12 sts on right side of opening (ndl #3).
Work 3 rounds in reverse stockinette stitch. Bind off.
Weave in any ends. They're ready to wear!
