1 skein Brown Sheep Naturespun Sport color N03 grey heather
or equivalent amounts in a dark and light color of your choice
Naturespun Sport is a sport weight yarn 1.75 oz per skein aprox 184
yards per skein.
US size 1 (2.25mm) 22" circular needle
set of 5 US size 1 (2.25mm) dpn
Gauge:
7.5 sts per inch 9.5 rows per inch
Pattern:
Using dark color and circular needle cast on 150 sts, join knit 10
rounds.
Add light color and work 29 rounds of moose chart (There will be five pattern repeats). Twist yarn on carries of over 7 sts.
Moose Chart 30sts x 29 rows
Knit 40 rounds in dark. Do not cast off.
Weave in ends of yarn.
With dpn pick up 150 sts from cast on edge.
Fold with purl sides together, Knit 1st from circular needle together
with 1 st from dpn, repeat to end of round. (You are making the hem on
the roll up brim) The moose pattern will be on the inside until you roll
up the brim.
Knit 40 rounds.
Start decreases:
Round 1: (K23, K2tog), repeat to end of round (144sts)
Round 2: Knit
Round 3: (K22, K2tog), repeat to end of round (138sts)
Round 4: Knit
Continue decreasing in this manner, until you reach (K14, K2tog) , repeat
to end of round. (90sts)
Next Round: K
Next Round: (K43, K2tog) twice (88sts)
Switch to dpns, have 22 sts on each needle. Next round SSK, K18, K2tog repeat on next 3 needles. 80 sts remain

SSK, K16, K2tog, repeat on next 3 needles. 72 sts remain
K1 round
SSK, K14, K2tog, repeat on next 3 needles. 64 sts remain
K1 round
SSK, k12, K2tog, repeat on next 3 needles. 56 sts remain
K1 round
SSK, K10, K2tog, repeat on next 3 needles. 48 sts remain
SSK, K8, K2tog, repeat on next 3 needles. 40 sts remain
SSK, K6, K2tog, repeat on next 3 needles. 32 sts remain
SSK, K4, K2tog, repeat on next 3 needles. 24 sts remain
SSk, K2, K2tog, repeat on next 3 needles. 16 sts remain
SSK, K2tog repeat on next 3 needles 8 sts remain.
Break yarn, thread through remaining stitches and fasten off.
Thread needle with end of yarn and pull to inside, then weave in end. Fold up brim so the moose feet are on the bottom edge, antlers just brushing the top of brim.
