Honeycomb Lacy Baby Blanket by Marjorie Arnott


 

Materials:
5 50 g balls of DK or worsted yarn;
7 (UK) 6 (US) ndls.

Measurements:
approx. 26" wide by 32" long.

Gauge:
Not very important.

Pattern Stitch:
1st row: p1, *k2 together, yf, k1, yf, s1, k1, psso,  p1; rep from *
2nd row: k1, *p5, k1; rep from *
3rd row: p1, *k5, p1; rep from *
4th row: As 2nd row
5th row: k1, yf, s1, k1, psso, *p1, k2 together, yf,  k1, yf, s1, k1, psso; rep from * , ending p1, k2tog, yf, k1
6th row: p3, *k1, p5; rep from * ending p3
7th row: k3, *p1, k5; rep from * ending k3
8th row: As 6th row
These 8 rows form pattern.

Cast on 129 sts.
Work 6 or 8 rows in m-st.

Start pattern:
Work 7 sts at each end in m-st and work to desired length and finish off by knitting 6 or 8 rows in m-st. Bind off.

Variations:

I have made this blanket in two colors by knitting one complete pattern in the main color and the second pattern in contrasting color.
I have also made it with say, two repeats of complete pattern and then a band of a different color, one pattern of main color and then a second band of contrasting color. After I decided how long
I wanted it, I then did the same at the other end of the blanket. I have also started the blanket by k1, p1, for row 1 of the border. Row 2 k. When you start the main part of the blanket; k1,
p1, k1 for 7 sts and on the next row; k these 7 sts. There are lots of variations. (The sky's the limit!)
