P2tog = decrease by purling 2 stitches together
rnd(s) = round(s)

knit 2 slipped sts together
st(s) = stitch(es)
St St = stockinette stitch

Notes:
This pattern is made in the round using dpns. I prefer to keep the work on 3 dpns and knit with the 4th, so the pattern is set up this way. You will have to do some juggling with the stitch counts if you like to use 4 dpns and knit with the 5th.

I worked the heel flap in plain st st. I usually work the selvedge st in K on each row. This makes it easy for me to see where I should pick up sts.

I made my sock with a contrasting heel and toe. If you want yours to be all 1 color, ignore the references to MC or CC.

I grafted the toe stitches. You could just as easily draw the yarn end through them and pull the toe closed.

Needles:
2.0 mm dpns for ribbing, 2.25 mm dpns for the rest

Materials:
Webs 2/10 Shetland wool (2800 yds per pound) in main color and contrast color

Gauge:
18 sts and 24 rows = 2 inches in St St on size 2.25 mm needles

CUFF
Using smaller needles and 1 strand of MC yarn, CO 20 sts.
Divide onto 3 dpns with 8 sts each on 1st and 2nd needles and 4 sts on 3rd needle and work in the round.
Work K2 P2 ribbing for 15 rnds. Drop MC and divide for heel by moving the next 10 sts to the larger needles and placing the remaining 10 sts on a holder.

HEEL
With CC, work 8 rows of stockinette st over 10 heel sts, ending with a P row.

Turn heel:
Row 1: (right side) K5, SSK, K1, turn.
Row 2: SL1, P1, P2tog, P1, turn.
Row 3: SL1, K2, SSK, K1, turn.
Row 4: SL1, P3, P2tog, P1, turn.
Break CC.
Pick up MC and with right side of sock facing you:
Needle 1: Pick up 5 sts from left side of heel flap. K 3 sts from bottom of heel.
Needle 2: K 3 sts from bottom of heel. Pick up 5 sts from left side of heel flap.
Needle 3: K 10 sts from holder. (26 sts on needles)

Instep:
Rnd 1: SSK, K to last 2 sts on 2nd needle and K2tog; K to end of rnd. (24 sts on needles)
Rnd 2: Work even.
Work these 2 rounds twice more. (20 sts on needles)
Work even for 2 rnds.
Break MC.

TOE
With CC, work 1 rnd even.
Toe shaping
Rnd 1: SSK, K to last 2 sts on 2nd needle and K2tog; SSK, K to last 2 sts on 3rd needle and K2tog. (16 sts on needles)
Rnd 2: Work even.
Work these 2 rounds twice more. (8 sts on needles)

Break CC leaving a tail long enough for grafting toe closed.
Graft 4 sts from needles 1 and 2 (top of foot) to 4 sts on needle 3 (bottom of foot) to close toe.
