Sharon's Eyelet Facecloth

Gauge:
5 sts. per inch

Materials:
Sugar and cream or any crochet cotton
Needles: Size 4 mm
Crochet hook: Size 4.5 and 3mm

Rice stitch pattern:
Row 1: k1 p1
Row 2: purl the knit stitches and knit the purl stitches

Eyelet Pattern:
Row 1: Right side, knit
Row 2: and all wrong side rows purl
Row 3: * k6 yo, k2 tog, repeat from*
Row 5: Knit
Row 7: K2, *yo, k2 tog, k6, repeat from * end last repeat k4
Row 8: Purl

Repeat pattern above.

Cast on 54 stitches and knit 4 rows rice stitch. Keeping 3 sts at each end of row in rice stitch begin eyelet pattern above. Continue eyelet pattern for 8 inches or desired length.  Knit 4 rows in rice stitch all across cloth. Cast off in pattern.  Do not break yarn. (1 stitch left)

With Size 4.5 mm crochet hook crochet single crochet all around cloth, with smaller needle, crochet back over single crochet you have just completed. This is called crab stitch. When you have reached the last corner of your cloth make a chain stitch of about five with your crochet needle go down in said corner and fasten securely. This should make a loop to hang your cloth
