My DD, age 8, has a 10 inch teddy bear she adores -- Theodora
Roosevelt Petunia Fuzzybear. OK, so I'm a sporadically maudlin mom.
Anyway, we always have to include Theodora in any gift giving occasion.
So, this year I wanted to make a shawl in garter lace where the alternating
panels of lace form on the V- shaped diagonals of a triangular shawl.
I hadn't seen a pattern
like it around anywhere, and, not wanting to go on a THING for a teddy
bear accessory pattern (!), I designed one myself. It's perfect!
I'm now adapting it for grownup people and I'm very pleased with it.
Thank goodness for teddies in need of shawls who inspire Moms, eh?
Basically, it looks like this:
XXXOOOXXXOOOXXXOOOXXX
XXXOOOXXXOXXXOOOXXX
XXXOOOXXXXXOOOXXX
Where the X's are garter
XXXOOOXXXOOOXXX
and the O's garter lace
XXXOOOXOOOXXX
XXXOOOOOXXX
XXXOOOXXX
XXXOXXX

End by working 5 rows of garter st and cast off.
