Turkish St Shawl by Suzan A Smith

One of the great things about this pattern is that it is fairly mindless but creates a beautiful fabric that looks good on both sides. It is basically a row of Turkish stitch followed by a row of garter. I put the increases on the pattern row so that I could remember them easier, but you could put them anywhere, or even on both rows.

This stitch came from the Reader's Digest GT Needlecrafts. I have used it for several items and it is so easy that I can take it to work with me, where I need something I can pick up and put down a million times a day.

Needles Used: Brittany 10.5
Yarn Used: Woolease Oatmeal I used three skeins of woolease because I wanted a big shawl.  It really depends on what you like.

Turkish Stitch:  YO, S1, K1, PSSO

1) CO 1 stitch
2) Inc, K1 (2 stitches)
3) Inc, K1, M1, K1 (4 stitches)
4) K4
5) Inc, knit in pattern (as stated for Turkish St above) until
last stitch, Inc
6) Knit

Continue Last two rows until shawl reaches desired size.

This makes a nice edge for adding fringe if you are so inclined.
