Alpaca Scarf

This is based on Lily Chin's ribbles, and is inspired by her shawl in VK.  While it's not identical to her shawl, it is based on her ribbles "unvention" which has a copyright, so at the very least you can't make this and sell it for profit.

Materials:
3 skeins Indecita alpaca sport weight, or comparable.
Size 7 (US) needles

Pattern:
Cast on 72 stitches
Work 3 ridges (6 rows) garter stitch

Abbreviations:
pm = place marker

Begin pattern:

Row 1:  Slip 1 purlwise, k2, pm, (k2, p2) to last 3 stitches, pm, k2, slip 1 purlwise
Row 2: k3 (k2, p2) to marker, k3
Repeat these rows except for every row ending in a "7" - i.e. 7,17,27 etc.

Row 7:  Slip 1 purlwise, k2, (slip 8 to cable needle and hold in front, k2, p2, k2, p2, then k2, p2, k2, p2 from cable needle k2, p2, k2, p2) repeat once more, k2, slip 1 purlwise

Repeat this row at rows 27,47,67

Row 17: Slip 1 purlwise, k2, (k2, p2, k2, p2, slip 8 to cable needle and hold in front, k2, p2, k2, p2, then k2, p2, k2, p2 from cable needle) repeat once more, slip 1 purlwise

Repeat this row at rows 37,57,77

Continue until desired length, ending on a row which ends in 3 (i.e. 83, 93, etc.) Knit 3 ridges (6 rows) garter stitch and bind off loosely.

The size 7 needles will give you a very open effect with this thin yarn.
