Gauge:
5 sts and 7 rows per inch
Beginning at top front, cast on 34 sts and work 1 row in stockinette
st.
Next row, dec 1 st at each end of needle this and every 4th row a total
of 13 times: 8sts remain.
Work evenly for 6 1/2", then inc 1 st at each end of needle every 4th row 2 times-12 sts remain.
Bind off back of thong.Overall piece should measure 16" in length.
Finishing:
Work 2 rows of single crochet down each long edge, carrying along matching
elastic thread with yarn. Break off.
Make a 16" length of tie out of crochet chain, attach to wide front of thong, single crochet across, end with 16" of crochet chain. Break off.
Repeat for back of thong, making 20" of chain on both sides of back. Decorate as desired.(Jingle bells are fun!)
Tie on at hips. Let party begin.
