Materials:
5 skeins of Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece (197m/100g) in #CW-580 midnight
(MC)
Size US #4 (3.25mm) and size US #6 (4.00mm) needles
Size US #4 (3.25mm) circular needle, 16in long
Stitch holders
Pattern:
Back
With smaller needles cast on 125 sts. K 2, * p1, k 1. Work from * to
last st, k 1. Work in rib for 1in. Switch to larger needles and work in
St st until piece measures 14in from beg, end with WS row.
Shape armhole
Cont in St st, bind off 10 sts at beg of next 2 rows (105 sts).
Dec 1 st each side every RS row 11 times (83 sts).
Work even until armhole measures 10in, end with WS row. Mark center
33 sts.
Shape shoulder and neck
Work to marked sts. Turn, bind off 1 st (back neck), work 16 sts, wrap
and turn, work to back neck, turn, bind off 1 st, work 7 sts. Wrap and
turn, work to bound off sts. Leave shoulder sts on holder for three-needle
bind off.
With WS facing join yarn at other shoulder and repeat process. Put center 33 sts on holder for back neck.
Front
Work same as back until armhole shaping.
Shape armhole and neck
Bind off 10 sts at beg of next row (RS) and work 50 sts, K2tog, put
next st on holder. Join new ball of yarn and SSK, work to end.
Bind off first 10sts, work to end.
Working both sides at once, dec 1 from armhole edges on every RS row
11 times. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 each side of neck edge every 4th
row 17 times more.
Work even until armhole measures same as back to shoulder.
Shape shoulder
For each shoulder, work one row across. Work 15 sts, Wrap and turn,
work to neck. Work 7 sts, wrap and turn, work to neck. Bind off sts with
sts from back.
Finishing:
Sew side seams together.
Armbands
With RS facing and circular needle, beg at underarm and pick up and
k1 st for every bound-off st and 3 sts for every 4 rows around armhole
edge for an even number of sts. Work 4 rows in k1, p1 rib.
Neck band
With RS facing and circular needle, starting at back neck, knit sts
from holder, pick up and k 3 sts for every 4 rows down left front neck,
mark and knit center st, pick up and k 3 sts for every 4 rows up right
front neck. On every round working in k1, p1 rib, work to one st before
center st, slip next st and center st knitwise at the same time, k 1, PSSO,
work to end of round. Work 4 rows like this. Cast off neatly.
