Materials:
Size 6 needle - sport wt yarn (these petals measure 3 inches in length,
so larger needles and heavier yarn will yield a larger finished piece)
Notes:
Always slip the 1st st of every row
Abbreviations:
p2sso = pass the 2 slipped sts over
K2togTBL = knit 2 together through the back loops
RS = Right side
WS = wrong side
PM = Place marker
Pattern:
With a size larger needle, cast on 105 sts, turn. Then change to your
chosen needle and purl 21 sts (just let the rest of sts wait for their
turn) Place a marker, and TURN
Row 1 (RS): Slip 1, k8, slip 2 as to knit at the same time, k1, p2sso,
k to end of row TURN
Row 2 (WS): Slip 1, p all stitches
Row 3: Slip 1, k7, sl 2 sts, k1, p2sso, k remaining sts
Row 4: Slip 1, p all stitches
Row 5: Slip 1, k6, sl 2 sts, k1, p2sso, k7 remaining sts (15sts in
all)
Row 6: Sl 1, p all sts
Row 7: Sl 1, k5, sl 2 sts, k1, p2sso, k6
Row 8: Sl 1, p all sts (13sts in all)
Row 9: Sl 1, k4, sl 2 sts, k1 p2sso, k5
Row 10: Sl 1, p all sts (11sts in all)
Row 11: Sl 1, k3, sl 2 sts, k1, p2sso, k4
Row 12: Sl 1, purl (9 sts in all)
Row 13: Sl 1, k2, sl 2 sts, k1, p2sso, k3
Row 14: Sl 1, purl (7 sts in all)
Row 15: Sl 1, k1, sl 2 sts, k1, p2sso, k2
Row 16: Sl 1, purl remaining
Row 17: S1 1, sl2 sts at same time, k1, p2sso, k1 (3 sts remaining)
Row 18: Sl 1, purl 2
Row 19: Slip2 sts tog at same time, k1, p2sso (1 st - place on a piece
of scrap yarn to hold)
TURN your work.
Don't cut your yarn, but use it to pick up and purl 9 sts down the wrong side of the finished petal, PM, (keep it there for at least a few rows). Now purl the next 21 sts of those waiting on the needle. Work the following directions until you have used up all of your stitches and have 5 points or petals.
Row 1 (RS): Sl 1, k8, sl 2 at the same time, k1, 2psso, k8, knit the
next st tog with the first st on the other side of the needle through the
back loops (on the side of the completed petal)
Row 2 (WS): Sl 1 , purl the remaining 18 sts.
Row 3: Sl 1, k7, sl 2 as to k, k 1, p2sso, k7, k2togTBL
Row 4: Sl 1, purl 16
Row 5: Sl 1, k6, sl 2 as to k, k 1, p2sso, k6, k2togTBL
Row 6: Sl 1, purl 14
Row 7: Sl 1, k5, sl 2 as to k, k 1, p2sso, k5, k2togTBL
Row 8: Sl 1, purl 12
Row 9: Sl1, k4, sl 2 as to k, k 1, p2sso, k4, k2togTBL
Row 10: Sl 1, purl 10
Row 11: Sl 1, k3, sl 2 as to k, k 1, p2sso, k3, k2togTBL
Row 12: Sl 1, purl 8
Row 13: Sl 1, k2, sl 2 as to k, k 1, p2sso, k2, k2togTBL

Place remaining stitch on a piece of string or a holder (don't stretch
it though)
Start at the bottom edge to sew the side together with the 1st petal and finish off any ends. Then run your needle through all the single stitches waiting on a holder and pull up tightly.
