Knitting Tips: Storage

  1. Craft Room Organization

1. Craft Room Organization

Helen Edwards 3/28/03

I guess I am a bit of a neat freak when it comes to fibre - the rest of my house is not that organized.

I have all the yarns organized by type and then by colour. All are stored in large Rubbermaid containers with the content listed on the outside. Now that I am a little more discriminating about yarns, I have put the cheaper acrylics in a large bag which I use to make squares and other charity items.

I have all my yarns and patterns on a computer database so I can tell at a glance what I have on hand. Patterns are sorted by type e.g. baby patterns, children's, adults, etc. Leaflets and books are put in plastic sleeves and stored in three-ring binders. Needles are sorted by size and stored in plastic holders.

All my magazines are listed as well, using the publisher's index wherever applicable.

I hate to spend time looking for something when I want to make something so I have to be organized.
